I have always loved animals and have built up my experience in a few different ways. I have volunteered with the SPCA, where I gained experience caring for and interacting with animals in need. I also regularly house and pet sit for family members when they are away, looking after their pets and keeping their homes cared for while they’re on holiday. I now work professionally at a kennel and cattery, where I care for a variety of dogs and cats as part of my everyday job. My responsibilities include feeding, cleaning, walking, administering medication and making sure the animals in our care are happy, safe and comfortable. I am used to working with animals with different personalities, needs and routines, and understand how important it is to follow an owner’s instructions. Between my work experience, volunteering and caring for family pets, I have developed a genuine passion for animal care and would love to provide that same level of care to your pets while you’re away.
Tell me a little about your pets! What are their usual routines, personalities and favourite things to do? Are there any behaviours, fears, allergies, dietary restrictions, medical needs or special requirements I should know about? For house sitting, how long are your pets comfortable being left alone, and what does their usual day look like? Please also let me know about feeding times, walks, medications and anything else that’s important to keep their routine consistent. If your dog may be suitable to come to work with me, I’d also love to know how they are around other dogs and people. Most importantly, is there anything that would help me make your pet feel safe, comfortable and happy while you’re away?
I work split shifts at a kennel and cattery, so I’m used to spending my days caring for animals. I’m at work from 8–11am and 3–6pm, giving me plenty of time between shifts to spend with your pets. Depending on the dog and with your permission, I may also be able to bring them to work with me, so they don’t have to spend the whole day alone. Outside of work, I love spending time with animals and giving them plenty of attention, walks and cuddles.
